Industry Talk Recap: Electrical Engineers in the Rail Sector

On Thursday, November 28th, an exciting event took place at ETH Zurich in collaboration with the Association of Academic Mechanical and Electrical Engineers (AMIV at ETH).

Julius Bosch, overall project manager for grid restoration at SBB CFF FFS, gave an engaging presentation on the topic “Blackout – What then?”. He explained the goal, methods, techniques, and progress being made to ensure grid restoration within just five minutes by 2026.

Following this, six company representatives introduced their companies and their connection to the rail and mobility sectors through brief pitches. They provided insights into their daily work and presented concrete projects. The companies represented were:

• Hitachi Energy

• SBB Cargo International

• Stadler

The evening concluded with an apéro, which provided space for engaging conversations, exchanges, and networking opportunities.
