Swissloop Tunneling – where young talent innovates

Swissloop Tunneling, a student association of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on technical and organizational experience while still at university. Not satisfied with minor improvements, the team embraces groundbreaking approaches that go far beyond mere theory and seek to challenge the limitations of current technology. Swissloop Tunneling is implementing a number of highly innovative ideas in its self-developed prototype of a micro-tunneling machine weighing over 3.5 tonnes. Following its formation in 2020, the association embarked on four years of ambitious student-led projects. During this time, students designed, developed, and tested various subsystems.
