A look behind the scenes: students explore the rail industry at the Railway Summer Camp 2023
In September 2023, around 60 students in a wide range of technical subjects came together from all over Switzerland at the third Railway Summer Camp.
Over an intensive week, participants gained a series of fascinating insights into the railway industry professions, including a close-up view of the Lausanne station renovation work, visits to safety installations and a rail operations centre, and a peek inside the Lötschberg Base Tunnel. The week was run by railway industry experts who passed on their knowledge to the students and gave them a thorough introduction to various aspects of the railway industry.
At the end of the Camp, participants split into groups to give a presentation on what they had learned and then attended a mini jobs fair where they were able to meet with potential employers. The packed week was rounded off with a drinks party hosted by SBB CEO Vincent Ducrot. We can’t wait for the next edition of the Railway Summer Camp in 2024!
