Keynote Speech

From Measurement to Action in the Rail Infrastructure Lifecycle

Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group combines hands-on rail expertise with digital tools to keep infrastructure in top condition.

This presentation looks at how railways turn raw measurement data into practical maintenance decisions — and how the feedback loop between diagnostics and interventions is closed. Starting from measurement trains, we follow how data is processed, positioned on a linear track model, and analysed over time. You’ll see how analytics help detect track degradation, measure the effect of maintenance work like tamping, and support engineers in deciding where, when, and how to act. We also touch on how maintenance actions are recorded and how intelligent systems can automate parts of this process. Finally, we look at the role of asset data, data quality, and governance in keeping thousands of kilometres of track safe to millimetre precision.
